Reviews
Someone told me about this place because tru flavours was closed which was disappointing for me. So pop in and order a peppersteak and white rice and knew it wasn't the one as it had a lot of sauce around the dish, anyway went back to my van and started to tuck in but had to go back in the shop as the rice was hot but the peppersteak was cold. I ask the lady behind the counter to re heat the dish again but didn't enjoy but I still had it because I came all that way and was feeling hungry. Some people might be thinking why didn't I check that tru flavours was open but online it was saying that it was open but for some reason was closed when I pull up to the shop. The drink you can see in the photo was peanut punch.
Only come here if you’re desperately hungry. There weren’t many options for me after 11:30pm. The staff was def rude but if you had me packed in a box with too many people, I would be rude as well. Seeing them maneuver in that small space was chaos. Anyway my chicken was undercooked and the rice and peas lacked flavor. And the chicken patty wasn’t crisp. The food was edible and tolerable. This isn’t the Caribbean food I know from the states, sad to know this is what yall eating in Brixton.
I just quickly ran out for some pepper prawns as I was feeling peckish; the services are always a pleasure the food has sometimes been hit and-miss. Minds you, I just had the pepper prawns this time, which is well on point 100%. 🙌🏿 also, I have to say there was a jacket that a customer was wearing, and on the back was a visit Rwanda message received.
A busy 24/7 West Indian takeaway. The food is not very nice. I have tasted better, I think as it's gotten popular the food standard has gone downhill.
The current queuing system is very unorganised and the place is not very clean. I know it's quite busy but it just seems untidy for food premises.
The staff are quite rude.
Just had the worst, watery cornmeal porridge! It was rank I had to chuck it in the bin.
Bun n cheese was delicious… Lamb Pattie was tasty… Salmon rice was peak.
Serious doe Refill - the porridge was horrid. Go True Flavours for the finest West Indian porridge in south.
Fix up.
Last time I was in the shop the staff 5/09/23 was trying to overcharge me! I was there for around 10-15minutes while the staff could not add up what I ordered! and the best joke about it she was using the till, I told her that that is not the price and to check again, after going on for 15minutes my food getting cold she realised she was wrong and did not even apologise, she just gave me the food with an egotistical attitude, no manners what so ever and damn right out of order! the food I ordered chicken soup (no dumpling, just potato, bit of shredded chicken flavour just ok, chicken wings taste very strange (sweet chilli )like they are old, and tough, rice and peas (bland) the stewed fish, one piece of dry tail for £5.00 and a whole heap of nonsense peppers and sauce which is rubbish. the queue system is always someone taking over the order to cause more confusion, (just let the person whom started the order finish the order! )
Bought some chicken soup on 1/8/23, disgusting. It was red, salt, full of Irish potato and the chicken was like Dunlop tyre. If I didn’t know better I’d say they rescued the chicken from scraped away food. Awful. No yam, no dumpling, the worst chicken soup I’ve ever tasted. Really disgusting. Nil pois. The service was good, the staff enjoyed a friendly banter, the place was clean but the chicken soup is a definite no no.
Please be careful when ordering soup or porridge from them online through deliveroo or ubereats,I order a large was given a medium, order a medium was given a small, when the Agent enquire, they told them they don't do small containers, when I go there myself I see Small,Medium and Large options, Refill do better false advertising. Twice now I had to get my money refunded and there won't be a third
